An international team including the Bob Marley Foundation, Chronixx, Team ODG, Luol Deng and iHeartAfrica. We worked together with the focus of raising the quality of educational provision. The mission is simple, and the blueprint is already laid-out, we’re going to raise 500,000 through the power of the global community to build and refurbish schools in the hearts of near-forgotten communities in both Jamaica and Ghana.
We recognise the importance of developing the untapped potential dormant in every child. We pride ourselves in understanding the unique needs of each child, as well as being able to see the bigger picture. This extends to being familiar with how the child ties into the fabric of their local community.
The additional money raised for the Meteba Medical Centre was used to help the Masika Centre, an orphanage and therapy centre for victims of sexual violence based in south Kivu. The staff are severely under-resourced, under-funded, and under supported. After seeing the conditions in which the community volunteers were dealing with we began entering discussions about what we can do to help.
In March 2017, just 6 years after the drought that claimed a ¼ of a million peoples lives, another critical level famine alert was raised in Somalia that severely affected as much as 6.2 million nearly 50% of the population. With very little international aid, we stepped in to help and assist. iHeartAfrica teamed up with Colin Kaepernick, Jerome Jarre Turkish Airlines and the Ben Stiller Foundation, to raise nearly 3 Million USD for the implementation of an emergency aid program.
I Heart Africa would like to thank everyone who supported towards helping rebuild the Meteba Medical Center in Ngaba. The money we raised helped renovate, improve and provide basic supplies for the Meteba medical centre in Ngaba.
